Talc Mine

Talc is a hydrous magnesium silicate mineral with the chemical composition Mg3Si4O10(OH)2. Although the composition of talc generally remains close to this generalized formula, some substitution occurs. Small amounts of Al or Ti can replace Si; small amounts of Fe, Mn and Al can replace Mg; and very small amounts of Ca can replace Mg.

1. In the Ceramic Industry: Since talc has very little thermal expansion property, it has been used in bathroom and kitchen ceramics and plates of electric stoves. Homogeneity in terms of physical and chemical structure is required for talc to be used in the ceramic industry. Additionally, grain size and distribution and cooking color are also important.

2. In the Paint Industry: Talcs with fiber and leaf properties are used in the production of paints and similar oils due to their oil absorbing properties. Talc used in the paint industry should be extremely white and have a high grade (98.5%) when ground. In addition, it must be able to pass through a 325 mesh sieve. Talc fiber enables the paint layers to interlock with each other and the surface. It prevents heavy paint materials from collapsing and makes the paint more homogeneous.

3. In Roof Covering: Poor quality talcs are generally used for this job. That’s why whiteness and purity are not required in the raw material. The required features are grain size and distribution and oil absorption ability.

4. Against Pests: Talc is also used in the production of insecticidal drugs. It provides the drug with toxic effects, desired density and low corrosiveness.

5. In the Rubber Industry: Talc is used as a filler in many synthetic rubber, plastic and rubber production. It gives the material a tight texture.

6. In the Paper Industry: Talc can be easily used in the paper industry due to its softness, grain size, ink absorption feature and water solubility.

7. In Cosmetics and Pharmacology: Since it is possible to obtain the desired grain size of talc, it is used in the production of cosmetic products and medicines due to its chemical purity and slipperiness. The properties sought in talc used in this industry are the lack of fibrous and hard minerals it contains and the low amounts of arsenic and iron.

Ferro Silicon

Ferro Silicon is used as an alloying element to remove oxygen in liquid metal to improve steel product quality. Silicon mainly increases the properties of strength and wear resistance, flexibility (spring steels), corrosion resistance (heat-resistant steels), and low electrical conductivity and magnetic shrinkage (electrical steels). Low Al content Standard FeSi, High Purity FeSi and low carbon FeSi products are used in the production of special quality steels used in the manufacture of transformers/motors, bearings, shock absorbers, steel cord fabric in vehicle tires and stainless steel. On the other hand, silicon is one of the elements with the widest usage area.

Sand and clay form is used in concrete and brick making.

Coal mine

Coal is used in the production of electrical energy in thermal power plants, in residences, in industry, in transportation and for heating purposes. Coal is used in electricity generation, iron-steel and cement manufacturing, and industrial processes to produce steam and for heating purposes.

Coke

Coking Coal: Those with a high degree of carbonization (hard coals) first soften under heat treatment. Then they swell, release their gas and harden again. The highly porous and light substance formed as a result of these events is called “coke”. Coke is a solid carbonaceous material obtained from coking coal (low ash, low sulfur bituminous coal, also known as metallurgical coal) used in the production of steel and other iron products. It is a residue.
